Morels (It's all happening now!")
I went on the hunt for a few hours today after not a lot of action yesterday. I left the fly rod in the truck and strictly hunted mushrooms. Attached are some pix of the fungi along with some dead elm trees for reference. In regards to the Morels I will quote Hootch "Its all happening now!" Smile Look for mossy areas with dead elms, not with the bark off but rather a tree that is in the process of decay. Stay on top of the hill where the sun penetrates and the rain water settles in. Grab a nice walking stick and when u find a group get down low and scan the area, I will almost guarantee there will be more. I found both black and yellows.

Rib eye here I come!

You're missing out Ron! Morels are amazing. My favorite is a nice fat juicy NY Strip marianted and grilled to perfection, some fresh green beans and butter fried morels, with a nice strong brew to wash it all down.

Yes!. . . . Heres a pic from last year, pan fried in butter with a little creole seasoning, and next to the wild turkey I'd shot just a couple days before

They are popping! Picked an entire grocery bag full and that was just under two trees. Next Wednesday looks good if the weather man is true.

A little more rain and heat is good, dont be afraid to look this weekend too, i think once they start there is little that stops them. One of my favorite spots was behind lake George in Rochester. When I was a teen I would bass fish that place. One cold rainy day I wandered back to the river and i found a patch that stretched 20x20. That area was wiped out due to 52 project but im sure that stretches remain all along that part of the zumbro. If any guys are not finding mushrooms and need a spot in Rochester PM me and ill throw you an are i had luck in.

Hootch- that pork is good stuff you will enjoy!

Yes, Nick's pork steaks are delicious.
He gave me a pack of smoke steaks and couldn't get over how good they were.

Ron I really enjoyed that batch of pork, I would go back to him but his prices are a bit steep. This time I went to place out of chatfield, I forgot the name but the price was fair and the product was great. They supply twigs up in Rochester w all their pork too

Found another three pounds today. A good sign is that i found some greys that were about a inch tall and mature yellows. I think with the upcoming forecast we can expect a good week.

They still look like a deformed brain.Confused
I hear Michaels resturant will take all a guy has got at a pretty good price.
Or, give the Hubbell House a call, they are probably in the market too.

RE: Morels (It's all happening now!")
I decided to try my hand at looking for em for the first time this year. 2 days ago I found nothing, but today I was about to call it quits when I spotted one. Ended up with maybe a pound or two as well as a bunch of leeks.

Can I drill a hole yet?

Dropped the hammer on a few last night. Took out a first-timer. Thanks F2L for your help with what to look for at this point in the season. The details were spot-on! One tick.

Nice haul Tyler. Looks like you got caught out in the rain or it was a little warm out there.
