As I was sitting on the ice in my sweatshirt yesterday, a question popped in my brain. What is going to happen this spring based on the warm weather? With the lack of snow cover are we going to see a surge in weed growth? Is there going to be enough high water to fill streams, creeks and the backwaters to support the spawn? I can't believe that our warm dry mild winter won't negitavely impact our fishing this spring/summer.

The Rochester Archery Club is having a Beer & Wine tasting this Saturday Feb. 4th from 6-10pm at Willow Creek Golf Course. Open to the public with a $10 entry fee you will get access to the beer and wine, appetizers, and many auction items to be sold.

This is not just for the hunters, or archers out there, but there will be many items for us too. The archery club members are donating the auction items. Archery Headquarters even donated a new bow.

Come out, bring the wife, or whoever. These wine tastings usually go for $35-150, but we are starting small to see what the interest is. We are at 75 pre-registered and that will just get us to break even.

With the March like temps I can't help but think ahead to the soft water fishing season. This evening I read from an experienced angler that the super lines are the way to go for those of us out hunting for smallies in moving waters. For years I have used Stren Magnathin 6 lb test with my light weight fishing gear. I thought I might just strike up a conversation and see what other people use once they have the urge to bend the long rod.

Since I don't ice fish I tend to live for the soft water season and these unusually unseasonable weather just isn't helping me. I might as well admit it that I am also a fishing video nerd. I love the week-end schedule of fishing shows.
